MANGA WORKSHOP JULY 2025

This digital zine is the result of a two-day creative experiment, bringing together artists from diverse backgrounds to craft their own Yōkai Festival manga. Mentored by Valerie Yu, the creators explored character design and storytelling techniques, collaborating to bring their visions to life.

The artists drew inspiration from Yōkai (妖 yō—attractive, bewitching, calamity; 怪 kai—mystery, wonder), supernatural Japanese creatures. Their world encompasses monsters, spirits, shapeshifters, urban legends, and other strange phenomena.
